Chris Smith’s Music Selling Well And Now In Japan

Toronto, Ontario, November 05 2009 — Singer/songwriter, Chris Smith, is all smiles these days seeing sales of his music flourish this year. His new album, “Let The Ball Roll”, has moved well and just last month, music distributor Disk Union contacted Chris and is now taking his CDs to Japan.

“Let The Ball Roll”, released on June 30, endured a month-long delay getting to market, yet by September, stock ran low prompting another production run. Sales of his entire catalogue has been particularly good at live shows and Chris’s 2006 album, “Back To You” will soon go into a fourth production run.

Chris is excited to have Disk Union taking his music to Japan. Spurred by consumer demand, Disk Union ordered “Let The Ball Roll” plus previous albums “Back To You” (2006) and “Real Thing” (2004). Disk Union joins iTunes, Amazon and CD Baby as the mainstays of Chris’s distribution network.

“I’m thrilled that my music will be on sale at music shops in Japan,” Chris said. “And, the fact that Disk Union ordered ‘Real Thing’ and ‘Back To You’ as well as the new CD is fantastic.”

Chris and his team will be working over the winter to secure a solid line up of festival shows for 2010. As always, show listings, news, music clips, photos and more can be found at www.chrissmith.ca.

Chris Smith began his professional music career with the rock band Regatta which was signed to an international record deal with BMG. Despite Regatta’s success, Chris knew his future lay in jazz and pop. He leapt into a solo career in 1995 with the release of his debut, “Room Inside My Heart”. To date, three more albums have followed: “Real Thing”, “Back To You”, and “Let The Ball Roll”. A favourite on Canada’s premier smooth jazz station, Wave 94.7, Chris has seen his fan base grow steadily while winning critical acclaim and industry recognition. In the company of such successful artists as Michael Bublé and Diana Krall, Chris has been nominated for eight Canadian Smooth Jazz Awards including Best Album, Best Song and Best Male Vocalist.

Disk Union was formed in 1969 and currently employs 650 people. Specializing in independent music supplied to shops across Japan and via their website, www.diskunion.net, Disk Union’s annual revenues top US$100M.
